I'm halfway throguh a kind of 'mini holiday' at the moment - even though I've had work wednesday, thursday and friday. Basically, last weekend Mum and Dad and Andy came up to visit, it was great! We went and saw Phantom of the Opera in London, and then did random barn dancing on a bridge in the evening. On the Sunday we went into Windsor which was quite nice.
Then I had monday and tuesday off and went up to Cardiff to meet the chemistry lot for Beth's 21st birthday - that was fun, we went to a Japanese resturant and got tipsy on a few glasses of delicious plum wine. We then went back to their house and watched repeats of Top Gear! Tuesday I managed to see Hayley, one of my flatmates from last year as well, although I did try and contact Ruby too but she wasn't answering her phone....
And then on saturday I've got a forum meet with the Halfway House lot *squee* it's going to be great!

I went to the Oppurtunities evening at the Lush shop, it didn't have the interviewy stuff but I did get a call on saturday morning saying that I have got an interview on wednesday. YAY!
I would write a bigger entry, but I'm watching a random DVD called 'Misery' with Ciaran and the others!

Went to a meeting last week about the industrial placement year next year - one word: aggggh!
Apart from doing all the applications now and stuff, as well as working 9-5 next year we have to do a 50 thesis and stuff. Waaaah!
In other news - I'm applying to be an Xmas temp in Cardiff Lush... having helpfully seen the interview questions already during a forum meet. Yay! Good thing too - one of the questions is "give an example of when you turned a negative situation into a positive"!!

Hey everyone, it's been AGES since I last wrote an entry. Finally have wireless internet connection in my room in Team Party HQ, althoguh at the moment the signal is quite weak until the NTL people install a booster thing.
This week has been great so far, even if all the late nights are beginning to show. Came back to Cardiff on saturday and that evening went out to the 'Come Play' at the students union... which was randomly in the great hall. Extreme school disco-ness.
As well as going out most of the other nights as well - I'm not sure that there has been a night when I haven't been doing SOMETHING! Let me see... clubbing, clubbing, BBQ then extreme DVD watching, clubbing, house party.
Enrolled on the course today, a bit disappointed thoguh since we can't do the Buisness studies module that I had signed up for as our option one. So have to do yet another chemistry one in which 90% is on the exam. *gulp*
Oooh, and got a phone call from Mum yesterday - apparently I've won a prize for the first year! £100 of textbook vouchers, maybe I can actually get the books I should've this time last year :)

Sonce Hannah kindly filled this out for me on her LJ space, here's a fun meme that I'll do for you if you comment. Team Party people are welcome to comment as well, although please put your name otherwise I won't know who to address it to!
Comment, and...
1. I'll respond with something random I like about you.
2. I'll tell you what song/movie reminds me of you.
3. I'll name something we should do together.
4. I'll say something that only makes sense to you and me (or just me).
5. I'll tell you my first/clearest memory of you.
6. I'll leave you a quote that is somehow appropriate to you.
7. I'll ask you something that I've always wondered about you.
8. If I do this for you, you must post this on your journal so you can do the same for other people.

So many things have happened since I last wrote an entry - nothing big as such. Oh, the Easter holidays. And my birthday. And Granny and Grandads 60th Wedding Anniversary...
OK, let me rephrase that - there have been lots of events since I last wrote, and unfortunately I can't be bothered to write about them all. I will share with you all the defining picture of my Easter holidays though:

Now, quick catch up time:
Sunday 23rd April - Got back to Cardiff, fell down the stairs (still have a pretty knee), went out for dinner with Team Party and did the Woodville pub quiz
Monday 24th April - Amazing present from my chemistry friends! I asked for "lots of small things" so that's exactly what I got... including a strange toy that goes "cheep" when you press it. They dared me to set it off in the lecture, so I did. The lecturer looked up and then started talking about "frisky seagulls" for 10 minutes! We were bright red trying not to laugh!
Tuesday 25th April - Saw "Tristan and Isolde" with Holly and Rachel tonight - it was good, worth seeing at the cinema if possible at any rate. I'm not sure that it's a film that you can watch frequently though.
Wednesday 26th April - Summer has started! Beautiful day today, and spent a lot of it outside sunbathing and messing around with Team Party. In the evening there was a huge night out in honour of mine, Holly's and Gaz's birthdays - we went to Bar Risa, and some poeple went on the bouncy castle and things. Although I'd invited my chemistry friends as well, unfortunately they couldn't stay long as Liz had problems with sore feet and Ed hates clubbing!
Thursday 27th April - Out again, this time in VERY skimpy hula costumes - we caused some guy to fall off his bike 'cos he was staring at us! Unfortunately not so fun later as we were being seriously hassled my some wankers in the club, and had to run for Ciaran and his mates to help. Luckily the others backed down after the lads appeared, but we went home then anyway since one of them had thrown almost a whole pint of beer over Ruby.
Friday 28th April - Rounders in Bute park was the most memorable bit of today (apart from perhaps the multiple choice chemistry test at 9am...). Anyway, rounders. Great fun, although I'm glad I wasn't deep fielder when Ciaran was batting!
Anyway, that's more or less up to date, so I'm going to go have dinner! xx

Today, Ruby had the idiocy to leave her room door unlocked whilst we went down to watch the rugby in the bottom common room (France winning embarrassingly well against England *meep*). So I 'went to the loo' and crept up to her room to mess with her computer.
Firstly I changed all the folders in her "My Folder's" file so they were hidden, then wrote a text pad document saying "Oh, your files seem to have disappeared. What a pity. Love Cathy xx"
Then I set up a password for her user account - "stolenmattress" and set a screensaver to appear which requires the password to be entered before returning to the normal screen. The screensaver was a "My Pictures" slideshow of the file I'd put on the computer called "Revenge" which contained such gems as:
( See the pitcures! )
The plan didn't work out quite as expected though, as Ruby saw the screensaver between pictures so it was just a blank screen. So she assumed the computer was crashed, and turned it off at the plug. So I agreed to sort it all out before she had to use it, being nice as I am. 'Twas still funny though, and I didn't have to bribe Ciran to let me into her room after all!

Just had a workshop on nuclear energy, and one of the videos we were watching was a jet plane being crashed at 500 miles an hour into a 3.5m block of reinforced concrete. The plane had to be attatched to rails so it didn't take off since it was goign so fast, and it completely vapourised on impact. The video was impressive, to say the least, and slightly scary!
PS - the reason we were watching this was to do with whether a nuclear reactor could withstand a plane crash. Unfortunately it wasn't actually testing this - the fuel tanks were mostly water and it just tested the energy released (2 million million joules...)

Huh, well - last night was interesting....
At about 8pm I went upstairs with some of my mates to play drinking games in the common room. I left my door unlocked. During this time, two of them must have slipped away at some point (and looking back I THINK I know which ones when) and removed the mattress from my bed. They then proceeded to put the duvet and pillows back so it didn't look like anything was wrong - they even put back the bag and DVDs I had chucked on their earlier.
Luckily I noticed before I attempted to sleep in it! I went back to my room at about 10 to get ready to go out to the nightclub, and looked at my bed suspiciously. It was lower. So noticed that the mattress had gone, guessed it was probably down in the library or somewhere but didn't have time to look for it. So I moved all my stuff to the floor for when I got back from Liquid.
Went around to one of the friend's rooms, and her teddy bear had been stolen and a ransom note left by some girls in our group who weren't at the drinking games, so at that point I assumed it was them who took my mattress as well - so told the others, who were all appropriately shocked and impressed. At the moment I think two of the girls in the room at that point were actually the ones who did it though, rather than the ones who stole the bear.
Anyway, we went out to the club - attempted to stay right until the ending at three, and ALMOST managed it - we left at about 2:45 but we were exhausted. We had been on the dance floor for 4 solid hours! But by the end there were more desperate guys hassling us (apart from the bastard who had been irritating us all night, the number of times we had to glare and move away *eye roll*).
So came back and slept on the floor, it was very comfortable - possibly more so than on the bed! This morning I dragged myself up for breakfast, then found the mattress in the laundry and single handedly yanked it up two flights of stairs back to my room (may not have been a good idea in retrospect, my shoulder now hurts!). Then slept again until I got up a few minutes ago...
PS Fay - I think that beats your residences card...?

After keeping an eye on Fay's and Hannah's live journals for a little while, I've decided that it should be easy enough to keep a MSN blog and a Live Journal. So here it is :)
Today's been a pretty lazy day since the lecturers are mostly striking, so no lectures and no practical - yay! Instead I slept in until about 11 and then went into town with Liz and Cassie. Cass is going to the Law formal on thursday, and since it's a Masquerade ball we spent the day looking around town for a suitable mask. Eventually found one in a ballet shop in one of the arcades, it's black with feathers and gold sequins. Liz and I also agreed to try on the worst dresses in TK Max - the red and grey striped one she wore made her look like a whore that got dressed in the dark. The pinkish one I put on made me look like a giant puffball...
